The role
What this is
Every product Cyshel runs deploys through one pipeline into one AWS organisation, described in CDK. This role owns that path: the environments, the migrations, the observability, and the checks that fail a change before a customer sees it.
We take enforcement seriously. A rule nobody measures does not exist here, so a large part of this job is turning conventions into mechanisms that return an exit code.
The work
What you would own
Responsibilities
Own the CDK infrastructure, the deployment pipeline and the environment story
Make forward-only database migrations boring, including the ones that touch large tables
Build and maintain the gates that keep an unsafe change from merging
Own observability: the dashboards and alerts that tell us before a customer does
First ninety days
Week 1: deploy something to production and document every step that surprised you
Month 1: remove one recurring source of deploy pain
Month 3: own the pipeline, the environments and the release story
The fit
What we are looking for
Requirements
Deep AWS experience, and infrastructure as code you have actually had to refactor
You have run a CI/CD pipeline that other engineers depended on daily
Strong TypeScript, because the infrastructure here is TypeScript
You can tell the difference between a check that enforces something and one that looks like it does
Nice to have
AWS CDK specifically
Postgres operations at a size where a migration needs a plan
Prior work on developer experience in a monorepo
Hiring
How this actually goes
You write to us
An email with whatever makes the case. A CV is fine, so is a link to something you built. We read every one.
A first call
Forty-five minutes with the person you would work beside. What you have built, what you want to own, and what this actually is.
A real problem
A paid piece of work or a working session on something we are genuinely stuck on. No take-home puzzles with no answer.
An offer, in writing
Scope, compensation and what you own, written down before you decide. If it involves equity, you see the instrument and the vesting first.
